Russell Architects was hired by Jan and Kent Hyde to design a bedroom, bathroom, and carport addition to their late-nineteenth century home located in the Historic District of Springfield, Missouri. The concept was to provide a visual connection between the archways of the existing veranda and the archways defining each new bay of the carport. The new interior was designed to help Jan, an art dealer, display a variety of her paintings and sculptures. The outdoor spaces, designed by Jan and Kent’s son, became a free-form expression of landscaping, pathways, and places to gather.
