Harlin Residence

Harlin Residence
(Gainesville, Missouri)

Russell Architects was hired by John and Linda Harlin to design an addition to their split-level, ranch-style home.  The new addition includes a library, den, and master bedroom suite.  The project also includes a complex renovation of the exterior to ensure that the existing house and the new addition complement each other.  Their house is nestled on a beautiful wooded 55-acre site in Southern Missouri, just minutes from where John grew up.  The original house was built by the Harlins over 30 years ago, and the design of the addition is meant to reflect the warm, friendly, and gracious personalities of both John and Linda.  This was accomplished through the use of natural wood, vaulted ceilings, plenty of natural light, and an open floor plan.  When asked about her home and property, Linda says, “The dogwood and redbud is spectacular in the spring, winding down our road on each side and all around our house at the edge of the woods!  We always feel that when we go through our gates and they close behind us, we are entering into our own little piece of heaven.”
