First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon

This project includes the renovation and restoration of the historic 1902 stone chapel at First Baptist Church.  Prior to renovating, the chapel was the least accessible building on the church’s campus.  Ironically, it was also the building used predominately by older members of the church.  Something had to be done.  The decision was made to lower the existing chapel floor to make it accessible directly from exterior grade, for the first time in the church’s history.  The result is a fully accessible multi-use facility that can be easily enjoyed by people of all ages.
